Comprised of San Diego residents Aidan Costello (Sudonim) and MKZ (Mikey DLR), Class-A Deviants have seen genuine interest in their brand of tight and psychedelic Techno. Residencies in SD paired with other bookings in the Sunshine State; most recently and notably the Monarch club in SF - have refined their taste and skills on providing sound in clubs and crafting high quality tracks that lean more towards the cerebral side of things. If perceived as a follow-up to their last record on SQL, listeners will notice a highly improved sound dynamic and driving edge .. these tracks were built for the club.
'Flat' is an erie and sub-focused track with meandering micro-synth stabs and well-crafted, driving percussion. The crisp drums blend well with low atmospheric tones and heavy kicks.
Matted drums and a clean arpeggiated synth lead paired with a booming kick make 'Heatwave' a tune ideal for a big festival system.
'Other Stories' is deep and groovy roller with clean and crisp sound design and a heavy kick. Melancholic and erie chord progressions make this a great example of the Class-A sound.
Gene Mantua takes us into a cigarette-smoke filled warehouse space with his take on 'Flat'. He provides tension and space within the track with meticulously crafted drone FX and great attention to ambient detail.
Gheno drives 'Heatwave' into a rave-tinged k-hole with woozy, filtered breaks and an explosive main segment. The UK influenced low end on this really makes this track a hype club player.
Llama A and friend of Class-A clears the smoke with a clean, crisp, and highly accessible dub of 'Other Stories'. Easing the tension on the track with a soft sound palette while a deep, delayed chord carries things through.
