MASTER TEMPO

This guy? A bit of an elusive, mysterious, French creature. The original two demos sent to us by SQL resident Bwi-Bwi struck a chord with us. Their dry, dusty sound has us imagining some producer stuck away in a field in Marseilles, banging' away on his drum machines in a shed out back. Who knows.. would be cool though.

'Motion In Love' aligns abstract field recordings with a slinky bass line and a fat kick. Drums stutter in and out as he teases a simple chord progression in the tune. While hard hitting, it has a tone of psychedelic rhythmic quality. Supporting artist Bwi-Bwi brings a cleaner mix to the table, and clearly his attention is focused on bringing the strongest elements of the tune towards the dance floor. Each mix makes for quite a different experience.

The b-side 'Earthquake' is for the drum-machine heads. It's one of those loops you seem to conjure up around 1 AM. This sits great on the dance floor amidst other machine-minded tunes. Master Tempo has not drifted away from his attention to detail as he seems to layer fluttering synths and analog feedback atop the drum programming, creating a tune that wraps around itself and opens into a washy clearing. Just enough time before it jumps back in to itself.. techno ! 707 fans get stoked on this one...
